Go deeply into the Body

My bedroom is enclosed by dark green walls with a mustard headboard resting on a feature wall. The feature wall is covered with a bright wall paper depicting gold, teal and mustard leaves. My bed is distinguished by crisp white sheets, sapphire pillows and a royal blue throw. Sitting next to my bed are two large metallic side tables featuring white and gold lamps. There's a mint couch with two small gold mirrors hanging above it. This is my escape from the world; my sanctuary. The colours and textures invite all that is in nature into the space; the primeval waters, lush forest and the golden sun.

My outer space is a channel through which I connect with my inner body. I close my eyes and muffle down the ambient noise, focusing on the silence. Outer silence gives rise to inner stillness. I go deeply into my body, listening to the thumps of my beating heart. The rhythmic echoes create a path for my awareness to explore every corner of my body. From my toes, to my fingers, to even my womb. A realm of vastness of space opens up where I can feel energy flow and vibrations within me. I don't think, I feel... don't think, just feel. Awareness is my compass in the Hindu practice of meditation known as ''dyana''. Meditation is an ancient practice that manifests healing from the spiritual to the physical realm. It's an instrument I use to clear the clouds that occupy my mind, silence the thunder created by my thoughts and calm the waters of energy flow within me. Stillness is the act of being one with spirit and is a meeting place with God hence the verse "Be still and know that I am God" in Psalms 46v10.

Ekhart Tolle in "A New Earth" explains the difference between the physical body and the inner body. The inner body is not solid but spacious. The apparent solidity of matter is an illusion created by our senses. The body is 99.99% empty space based on the vast span between atoms relative to their size. Thus, the physical body is no more than a misperception of who you are; it is a microcosmic version of space. The inner body is not the physical form but the life that animates the physical form. Deepak Chopra in "How to Activate Self Healing" explains that healing begins with the understanding of who we are as human beings. "Who am I?" He asks. "I am a stardust Being on a cosmic journey with self awareness". This understanding reflects a separation from human and being, form and formless, flesh and spirit. Through presence, you are able to disassociate yourself from form and become the awareness behind it. You are not your body, you are not your thoughts... you are the awareness behind them. Such a revelation is the first step towards mental and physical wellness.

Meditation is a medicinal tool I have utilized to cure insomnia. Insomnia is the byproduct of an active mind usually caused by stress, depression, anxiety and trauma. It is basically the disruption of energy flow within the body. However, I have come to appreciate that all pain, emotional and psychological, is ultimately an illusion. Unconsciousness creates pain by being identified with the mind i.e. ego whereas consciousness transmutes it. Bringing awareness to your thoughts and emotions allows you to release and let go. For in the wise words of Albert Einstein "Energy cannot be created or destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another." By going into your body, you create a shift in vibrational frequency considering that "We are vibrational beings and you cannot attract what you're not willing to become vibrationally." - Oprah Super Soul Sessions. Speak life into your body, become the peace you want to see, create the healing you want to be.
