I wake up from a terrible nightmare, my spirit feels unsettled and my mind disorientated. "What just happened?" I ask myself. I turn on my side, with one eye open and the other lagging behind it. I reach out to grab my phone and check the time, its only 1:07 am. "What did I just witness?'' I ask again as I fail to shake off this overwhelming feeling of discontentment; I just can't figure it out. I decide to pray but words just fail me, my heart is heavy, my body stiff. So I opt to play Sarah Jakes Roberts "Breaking point" sermon in the background as I doze off...
I see myself walking, I'm not awake but I'm not dreaming either. Am I sleepwalking? I try to wake up but there's this downward force being exerted on my head, a force I just cant seem to overcome. I then remember Eckhart Tolle's words in A New Earth "resistance only leads to more suffering". So I decide to let go and surrender to this moment, a moment that lasts a couple of seconds but feels like forever. I am no longer in control, She is. She who resides within me. She who is another dimension of me. She who is bold, fearless and strong. Her rage was the response to my pain, my confusion, my tears. And I realized that I'm not alone, she walks with me, she... the essence of my Being.
When God created human beings from dust [S]He breathed life into our nostrils. The term "breath" is also known as "pneuma" in Ancient Greek meaning soul or spirit. Therefore, breath is the impartation of God's spirit to dwell within us and the spirit is the essence of our Being. So who is God? In Exodus 3v13-14 Moses protests and asks God "but who should I say you are?" God answered "I am who I AM. Tell them I AM sent you". [S]he is the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. [S]he is Ramasedi; Mvelinqangi. [S]He is the creator that dwells within the creation. We are spiritual Beings having a human experience. We are in this world but not of this world. We are the formless and not the form; We are the manifestation of the Heavens here on this earth. We are children of the soil... I am a child of the soil. My name is Lerato Paulinah Mohale, come with me as I journey into African Spirituality.
